Join the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol - Point Turton Division.

Join now and gain the qualifications to become a Rescue Vessel Crew Member, Rescue Vessel Skipper, or Radio Operator—ready ahead of the arrival of our new vessel later in 2026.

If going to sea isn’t for you, we will also have opportunities for land-based Radio Operators working from our Point Turton HQ radio room later in the year. And if fundraising is more your style, we’re always looking for extra hands at our much-loved fundraising sausage sizzles.

Official training is required for all Rescue Vessel Crew Members, Rescue Vessel Skippers, and Radio Operators.

  • Radio Operators must hold a Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) or an equivalent or higher qualification, such as the Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP).

  • Training and examinations for Radio Operators will be provided by the Coastal Patrol.

  • Rescue Vessel Crew and Skipper training will be conducted by the SA SES Marine Operations Unit.

Membership costs only $10 annually, and your uniform will be supplied free of charge once you’re operational.
